H.E. Hotmangaradja Pandjaitan, the Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, brings a distinguished background in both military leadership and international diplomacy. Born in Palembang in 1953, he is a retired Lieutenant General and a graduate of the Indonesian Military Academy. His military career includes service as a Military Attaché in Bonn, Germany (1997-2000), as well as command roles within Kopassus and various strategic positions in defense and security coordination at the national level. Domestically, he served as Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, and as Special Assistant to the Minister of Defense for Strategic Environment. On the diplomatic front, he previously served as Ambassador to France, Monaco, Andorra, and UNESCO (2014-2018), where he gained valuable experience in multilateral diplomacy and cultural relations. He assumed his current role as Ambassador to Singapore in early 2026, presenting his credentials to President Tharman Shanmugaratnam on 26 January 2026. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for his expertise in counter-terrorism, territorial defense, and strategic resilience. With extensive experience in both defense and diplomacy, he is committed to strengthening bilateral ties between Indonesia and Singapore, enhancing cross-border economic connectivity, and promoting tourism initiatives such as the direct Singapore-Belitung flight. Above all, he remains dedicated to advancing regional stability, economic integration, and mutual prosperity within the ASEAN community.
